Real Dad Blog Version: Parents lost their lives without cause on September 11th, 2009. Please pray them and their families on this day of remembrance.

On September 11th, 2001, there were many moms and dads who lost their lives in one of the most terrible tragedies in our countries history. Let us remember and pray for those who were lost in these attacks. Let us pray to the children who have to grow up without a dad and or a mom. Let us also pray for all the parents who lost their children. These people were innocent and did not deserve to die. There time was taken from us too soon. There time with their children and other family members were taken away. Some children and parents will grow up without memories that should have been.

God bless these families and let us all remember the people that were taken from us way too soon.

On September 11th, my son Rylan was not even a thought. He has no idea that this happened. When he is old enough to know I will make sure he knows about our countries good times and bad. We study history so that we would learn from past mistakes and make sure these mistakes do not happen again.

Dad Crying

Real Dad Blog:  Losing a child stinks.  We are supposed to die before our children.

As a dad or parent, your worse nightmare is to lose a child.  I couldn’t imagine the loss of my son.  I would feel grief forever.  This is only natural and common.  About.com has a very good article on how to handle grief as a married couple.  In this, they address how parents can work together to help each other overcome the loss while also using friends.  Before reading this article, I thought the divorce rate was high among parents who lose a child.  I found out it is only about 12% of couples.

The reason I am writing about this is a week ago, I found out one of my former students passed away in a car accident.  He was 24.  I use to know his parents very well as they were very involved in his education.  He was one of those kids who struggled with the academic pieces in school but was very likeable and cracked the best one-liners.  I was stunned and saddened when I heard about the loss.  My prayers go out to his dad, mom and sister.  So to you Alex in heaven, What’s Crackin.

I know I have not had any funny posts lately about being a dad. I have been busy getting back into the teaching world and dominating the soccer world.  Don’t worry though; I have a couple in mind that will make you laugh out loud.

Thousands of people every day follow the strong mother, while she blogs about her little ones and her almost 9 month son named Stellan.  My wife has been following this blog for a while because one of her good friends knows Stellan’s mother and she has been keeping me informed of his progress.  Stellan has complications due to Supraventricular tachycardia (STV).  STV is a heart rhythm disorder.

Today was not a very good for the tough guy. His heart has been beating around 220 beats per minute all day with no breaks.  Drugs are not helping.  Tonight there was a good sign with an hour and a half break.

God, take all the prayers from around the world that are praying for Stellan and help heal him the way you have intended.  Let the doctors use their blessed hands to the best of their abilities.  God, please take care of his family during this hard time of uncertainty.  They are a strong willed family but still need you in their hearts.  Please Lord Bless Stellan.
