Sleep, sleep
Where have you gone.
I am a new dad
Why is that so bad?
Because I get no sleep. My baby gets up every two hours at night if I am lucky
Usually it is less
Now my sleep schedule is a mess
I change poopy diapers with a close pin
While the stinky thing is usually yuckyWhen I wake up in the morning
The wife is usually madI ask her, “Why do you seem so sad?”
I then figure out,
Oh it was just a dream that I did it all
It was actually you taking care of little small.
I think that poem deserves 1st prize in a poetry contest. I made the 5 minute New Dad Sleep Poem because I believe the guy sleeping through a baby crying is the case with most dads. If my wife did not keep on trying to wake me up I would never hear Rylan cry. I really do think it is one of those men things with sleep. We can sleep through anything, especially a baby’s cry.
So new dads out there, take turns with your wife getting the little one. (If she is not working, that should be a different story). You may need to have a talk with your wife about having to dump cold water on you if you are not waking up. Your wife is a new mom, she needs your help more than you will ever know.
Rylan is now 9 months old and he sleeps about 12 hours at night. We have had it on easy street for a while with this guy. Sleep will come for both parents.
Real Dad Blog Man Version: New dads, expect no sleep at first. Buck up, because your wife needs you. You will get you use to having no sleep.
