Today, I was getting our front porch and garage ready to paint. The paint was starting to peel. I washed everything so the exterior paint would go on nicely. I, then, made the trip to Home Depot and bought a gallon of paint and some brushes. Thank goodness for maintenance free siding, or that would have been an expensive trip. It was too bad that Rylan is not old enough to help his dad paint. His mom had another trick up her sleeve. She had the idea, let’s have Rylan finger paint. She thought if daddy got to paint, Rylan gets to paint too.

Baby getting messy finger painting
We all know babies and paint do not mix well. Then, when the babies turn into toddlers, things can get worse. The horror stories of paint, pencils, and crayons getting on the walls and floors are never ending. Parent after parent have this story. These horror stories come with their rewards. The rewards are an increase in coordination and creativity in the young one.
Melissa got the good old Crayola Washable Fingerpaint out and decided it was time for the Finger Paint Expressionism to begin. She got Rylan undressed with just his diaper on. She pushed the highchair up against the kitchen table. The tape went on the computer paper so Rylan could not get the paper up (FYI… Do not use computer paper, it does not work too well as the paper rips!). Melissa put the different colors on the paper and the mess began. First, the paint went on the paper, then on kitchen table, on the high chair and finally right in the mouth. Rylan was styling.

Baby Finger Paint Art
What was the final product of Rylan’s finger paint art? It was two pictures that could fetch millions of dollars. I have been to the weird art museums and online art auctions, I know he could get a few thousand compared to what these places call art.
After finger painting, Melissa had Rylan take a bath. Who got stuck cleaning up everything else? You got it, Dad. What team members.
This was not Rylan’s first experience with finger paint. Melissa had a great Mother’s Day gift idea involving a baby’s butt, hands and feet. I think this is the best Mother’s Day gift art craft idea ever. My wife doesn’t think she is creative, but I do.
